Born in 1980 in Ağrı, Yakup Tekintangaç focuses on childhood, identity and belonging in his short films. His short film "Azad" won numerous national and international awards and reached 2 million views on YouTube. "Morî", supported by the EU Sivil Düşün Programme, world-premiered in the international competition of the 70th Oberhausen International Short Film Festival. It has since been selected by more than 100 festivals and won over 20 awards. He is a graduate of chemistry and philosophy, with a master's degree in biophysics.
