A solitary man returns to a place that once defined him, only to discover that time has quietly altered both the land and the people he hoped to recognize.
After a long absence, a man comes back to his hometown, carrying the unspoken belief that returning might restore what was once familiar. As he moves through familiar streets, faces and routines, he realizes that the place he calls home no longer exists in the way he remembers. Through silence, gestures and fleeting encounters, Somewhere I Belong observes a quiet confrontation with change, memory and the impossibility of fully returning.
Director — Youssef Handouse
Youssef Handouse is a Tunisian writer-director, musician and composer. He graduated in Literature and Arts in 2021 before joining the Higher Institute of Multimedia Arts of Manouba (ISAMM) to study cinema. He completed his studies in 2025 with Somewhere I Belong, which premiered at the 79th Festival de Cannes in the La Cinef section.
